Nigerian Twitter This Week
Nigerian twitter was on fire this week. From stolen government funds to TikTok obituaries, there were a lot of conversations going on. In case you missed it, here is a quick recap of some of the highlights.
Where is Solomon Buchi?
Popular twitter influencer, Solomon Buchi recently disappeared from social media following some backlash about his wedding preparations.
Being an influencer often means your private life becomes public. In Buchi’s case he didn’t seem to mind that aspect of his relationship. Often sharing pictures of his girlfriend and publicly professing his love for her on his platform.
But a recent tweet from the self proclaimed life coach and vocal feminist had a lot of eyebrows raised. In the tweet made out to his significant other he began, “You are not the most beautiful or intelligent”. He proceeded to say that he chose her regardless and called his first comments “a realistic base for real love” (eye roll).
Suffice to say a lot of people disagreed with this tweet and made that clear. Regardless of the backlash, Buchi stood by his words. And so did his girlfriend.
It has to be mentioned that the influencer has posted his fair share of agreeable tweets and commentary. That’s why he amassed such a large following, especially with women.
But there was no mercy for him these last few days when his followers found out he had opened a registry for cash wedding gifts. Twitter was enraged, especially the women.
And so the receipt pulling began. Women began to pull out DM’s of conversations with him where he allegedly asked them for money and made requests for them to buy him things.
People on Twitter trolled Solomon, causing him to deactivate his social media accounts and disappear from the public eye.
“Alakori Ni Bobo Yen Seh”
During a recent performance of her hit song “Somebody’s Son” featuring Brandy, Tiwa informed the public that the “somebody’s son” she was referring to in her lyrics was Jesus.
It’s hard to believe that she was referring to Jesus when she said, “Alakori Ni Bobo Yen seh” but she said what she said. And twitter responded.
Pastor Tobi Adegboyega
The ever controversial SPAC Nation Pastor, Tobi Adegboyega was once again a trending topic this past week after he stopped his choir’s ministry abruptly because they were “boring me to death”.
As usual, his congregation did not bat an eye at his questionable behavior but Nigerian twitter took up his matter.
Some people came to his defense but as usual, the eccentric pastor was unrepentant and released a video asking Nigerian twitter to mind their business. Saying he didn’t need anyone’s criticism or defense.
Tinubu Versus Obasanjo
So as part of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s heavy campaigning for president, he paid a visit to former president Olusegun Obasanjo, hoping to land the oligarch’s support.
Here is the thing; Both men have been known to butt heads in the past.
Well, Tinubu seemed to have swallowed his pride as the two had a sit down last Wednesday.
Though neither of the elderly men addressed the press after their meeting, that didn’t not stop twitter from sharing their views.
What an eventful week as usual on Nigerian Twitter. Let’s see how next week goes. Happy Sunday!
