Ike Ekweremadu, Former Senate President, Arrested for Child Trafficking and Organ Harvesting

Ike Ekweremadu

Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Mrs. Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu have been arrested in the UK. The couple arrested by the Specialist Crime Team of the Metropolitan Police in London, is being charged with conspiracy to harvest the organs of a child.

According to reports, the former senator’s daughter has been suffering from kidney failure. So they brought in a homeless 15 year old boy, Ukpo David, from Nigeria. He had a fake passport on him claiming his age was 21 years. It is also possible that his name was faked as well. Fortunately, it came to light not long after he was introduced into the system that they had planned on transplanting his organs.

It was said that the boy was treated like a slave by the former senator and his wife, as he was made to sleep on the living room sofa. He was taken to a public UK hospital where the doctor allegedly declined to perform any procedures on him after finding out his age. He eventually ran away from Ekweremadu’s custody, sleeping in the streets for a few days before finding a police station to make a report.

Senator Ike Ekweremadu Arrest

Firstly, it is important to note that child trafficking is a criminal offense in every country. After the report was made, they were found and arrested on Tuesday, June 21, at the Heathrow airport on their way to Turkey, possibly to procure another organ.

The boy is currently in the care of safeguarding authorities and the Metropolitan Police while the Ekweremadus are facing a 12 year jail sentence.

Peter Obi Stands on The Ekweremadus News

Ex-Governor Peter Obi, a Nigerian businessman, politician and recent Labour Party presidential candidate that previously served as the governor of Anambra State through the period of 2006 to 2014, openly expressed his support for former deputy president of the Nigerian Senate, Ike Ekweremadu.

This comes barely a day after a majority of his supporters on twitter celebrated Ekweremadu’s arrest as a well deserved justice.

Obi’s well wishing sparked a twitter debate over the intention of his tweet. Some of his supporters denounced him and his tweet, some expressed confusion as to the intent of it, while others still continued to show their undying support for his actions.

Whatever the message he was trying to convey, reading a tweet that has a presidential aspirant sympathizing with an alleged organ trafficker just makes you think: Why?
