Is The Middle East Peace Plan A Hoax: Peace Plan or Trump Plan?

middle east peace plan

To some of us, the war between Palestine and Israel has become something of an old wives tale. So far, all efforts to bring peace between both countries have proved abortive. For decades, Israel and Palestine have fought what has been regarded as a religious war between the Isreali Jews and the Palestine muslims. Both countries have fought continuously over Jerusalem which is considered a holy place in both religions.

In a world where almost every non-Muslim views Muslims as terrorists by default, it is not surprising that people fail to see the outrageous evil that is going on under our very noses. Israel continues to illegally occupy Palestinian settlements and they are not apologizing about it. The boldness at which they decide which Palestinian to throw out and which to let live a peaceful life would make one think they were God.

This colonization, this Apartheid is familiar to us as Africans and we do not support it. We know the pains of a different entity coming to live on your own land, taking away your identity, your culture, and your pride. The discrimination, the continuous killing of Palestinians reminds us unpleasantly of the suffering we used to face in the hands of colonizers.

Some people just say the Palestinians are violent people that should be killed until they go extinct, but I say I understand what it is to be pushed to the wall. An African adage says when you pursue a goat and it finds there is nowhere else to go, it will turn around and fight you.

This is just to mean that, no matter how calm the Palestinians may have been before Israel began to encroach on their land, it is only expected that the conditions they have found themselves living in for decades will cause them to be distrustful and resistant to any form of “peace plan”.

In a world as “civilized” as ours, one would think we would all be averse to the plans and policies that would make a people, and a government, subservient to other people and government. We have had enough of the never-ending fight between Israel and Palestinians, yes but when the war is resolved, we want things to be done the right way.

We want those who need to be brought to book and evicted to get exactly what they deserve. We do not want to see you tightening the noose over the neck of a terribly oppressed people.

What Trump Has Promised With The Middle East Plan

According to NYtimes, the Trump plan promises a $50 billion economic plan for the new Palestinian state that the White House claimed would create 1 million new jobs over 10 years, double the size of the Palestinian economy, cut poverty in half and reduce unemployment below 10 percent.

The Palestinians will also be “allowed” to become a sovereign state and are also permitted to pick one village near Jerusalem and rename it “Jerusalem” just so they can console themselves on their loss. Palestinians will be given the Aid for development and will receive world support if they agree to be a non-event, and leave peacefully when Israel comes to take over their homes.

There will be no war, and everyone will live in happiness and harmony. Except the Palestinians of course, they might as well remain gnashing their teeth. Who cares?

Israel will take over the military, Palestinians will be left without any military to defend them, open to the danger from the Israeli soldiers. Jerusalem will become the capital of Israel and Palestinians will move a bit farther into the patches of the desert now available to them.

The Real Terms Of The Middle East Peace Plan

Israel To Control All Security Matters

The Palestinians will now be unable to defend themselves, left at the mercy of Israel. They will be pushed out of their homes and every resistance will be seen as an act of terrorism. People will die, men, children, women. The Palestinians will now be well and truly stuck because the only place they have to run to is into the arms of extinction. It is like taking a stick from the hands of a child and giving it to the bully. Hamas a militant/military group in Palestine has been asked to renounce their group or surrender.

No Palestine Was Present For The Negotiation

Taking the “peace plan” negotiations as an insult, the Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas did not pick up Trump’s call and also did not attend the meeting. His absence making the meeting look like a comedy show. Two non Palestinian leaders coming together to make decisions about Palestinians is the most comic thing I have seen this year. It is obvious that the Middle East peace plan is tailored to favor Israel and the Palestinian government, and the Palestinian President had good reason to not want to be part of such a decision.

Legalizing The Annexation Of Palestinian Lands

The Palestinian people have suffered through decades of watching their land taken from them illegally. The peace plan, however, will put an end to that by making the theft legal and by so doing tie the Palestinians with their hands behind their backs, and make them watch as all they believe in and all they stand for gets trampled in the dust.

No Control of Holy Sites

A large aspect of the Israeli and Palestinian conflict is the conflict over who actually owns Jerusalem and the temple that stands in it. The “peace plan” will wrest possession of Jerusalem from the hands of the Palestinians. One great clause in the plan is that Muslims will graciously be allowed to worship in the temple but technically, it will no longer be for them.

Ironically, the orthodox Jews do not support the act of the Isreali government and are actually speaking against the action together with the world. On social media, they proclaim that the tenets of Judaism do not support the action the Isreali government is taking against Palestinians. However, the Zionites, who because of religion believe that Jerusalem is a “promised land” for them are very much happy to see the Palestinians crawl in the dust.

Palestinian Reaction To The Middle East Plan

Palestinian President says “No, it won’t pass”. The Palestinian president has blatantly refused to accept the Middle East Plan and has declared that they will neither kneel nor surrender. The Palestinian people took to the streets in anger creating violent riots around the country.

Conclusion

Even if we decide to give the Middle East Plan a benefit of doubt, we will still have to be blind deaf and dumb to ignore the fact that it is a policy of oppression. Taking someone’s land because you are bigger than them is plain traditional bullying and perpetrators should be treated in the traditional way of dealing with bullies.

For a peaceful world in which we can all coexist in spite of our race, and religious beliefs, the whole world should come together and resist this act of oppression on Palestinians as it has done for many other nations in the past.
