5 Great Unconventional Romance Movies on Netflix

Movies on netflix

Just because of Valentine ’s Day, February has been deemed, universally, as the official month of love. So in the spirit of love we made a list of our favorite romance movies on Netflix. These aren’t just great love stories, they’re unconventional and make for an unforgettable watch.

So whether you’re single this month of love or in a relationship, here are five romance movies on Netflix you’re going to want to curl up to.

  1. Spanglish

Okay, so before I actually watched this movie, I had heard of it many times and being an Adam Sandler fan, it was literally the only one of his movies I hadn’t seen (that’s no joke, I’ve even watched “Waterboy”). But I saw a married man and a Spanish maid in the synopsis and I was not interested.  That sounds more like the setting for a regular porn flick than a great love story.

Well, after much self-persuasion, I finally watched it and I can honestly say it was good… no scratch that, it was a great watch. The movie is wholesome and there was so much heart in it, even in the non romantic scenes. Even though Adam Sandler’s character is one of his most awkward and that can occasionally be hard to watch, ultimately he comes off as endearing.

  1. Me before You

Fair warning, if you are going to take this movie on, do it with a roll of tissues by your side because it is a major tear jerker. I love this film, it’s touching and heartfelt. And I can tell you will fall completely in love with Louisa (Emilia Clark’s character). I think there was a lot of authenticity to this love story and that’s what makes it so special.

  1. Love and Other Drugs

You know the saying, “It’ll make you laugh, smile and cry,” well, that’s the only way to describe this movie. It has all the makings of a typical love tale, the bad boy who doesn’t want to settle down, the strong independent girl who is seemingly immune to his charm but with a more complicated romantic tale… ohh and a lot of sex.

  1. Knight and Day

I don’t like action movies at all. I do not feel the adrenaline or excitement that other people do when they see things explode. So this movie is probably the only action movie that I enjoy, it helps that it is mostly a romcom but that’s just semantics. This movie is a thrill from start to finish. I never knew Tom Cruise could be so funny and a little creepy but hey, we live in the age. “You”, psycho is the new sexy.

  1. Crazy, Stupid Love

This is actually one of my favorite romcom of all time, its sweet, it’s funny, and it has scenes of Ryan Gosling shirtless ;). If you give this movie a shot, I have no doubt it will become one of your favorites too. Enjoy!
