Elon Musk and U.S. President Donald Trump are currently at odds, a development that has surprised many around the world.

In response, President Trump fired back, claiming Musk’s outrage was rooted in personal interests. According to Trump, the bill in question aimed to reduce the electric vehicle (EV) mandate, a move that could potentially hurt Tesla’s profits.

“The easiest way to save money in our budget, millions and billions of dollars, is to terminate Elon Musk’s government subsidies and contracts. I was always surprised that Biden didn’t do it.”
Elon Musk hit back, claiming:
“Without me, Trump would have lost the election. The Democrats would control the House, and the Republicans would be 51–49 in the Senate.”
He added pointedly, “Such ingratitude.”
Musk didn’t stop there. He went on to post,
“Oh, and some food for thought as they ponder this question: Trump has 3.5 years left as president, but I’ll be around for 40-plus years.”
In another post, he casually floated the idea:
“Is it time to create a new political party in America that represents the 80% in the middle?”
Trump, not one to stay silent, responded:
“Elon was wearing thin. I asked him to leave. I took away his EV mandate that forced everyone to buy an electric car nobody wanted. (He knew about the bill for months.) I was going to do it, and he went crazy.”
Musk denied the claim, saying it wasn’t true and that no one got a proper look at the bill before it was passed.

The public spat has quickly escalated into a dramatic back-and-forth, with many joking that the two are having a “breakup fight.” Adding to the theatrics, Elon Musk’s ex-girlfriend tagged Trump in a cheeky post that read,

Even Kanye West jumped into the fray, posting:
“Broos, please nooo. We love you both so much.”
