Inside China’s 80th Anniversary Military Parade: A Historic Show of Force and Technology

Is the Chinese military building its aura? Most certainly yes, and the display is mind-blowing. On September 3, 2025, China held its military victory parade to mark the 80th anniversary of World War II. This became its largest parade so far.

For the big day, major roads were closed and schools were shut down. Security preparations went on for weeks to ensure everything was in place. Many presidents and world leaders were present to witness the show of strength.

Russian President Vladimir Putin attended, and even North Korean leader Kim Jong-un arrived in Beijing on his famous armored, bulletproof train. However, no Western leader showed up, except the President of Slovakia and the President of Serbia.

Xi Jinping Leads Troops in a Historic Victory Day Celebration

The grand military parade took place at Tiananmen Square in Beijing, China, and it was a spectacle that sent chills down the spine. On Victory Day, President Xi Jinping inspected the military troops with pride and authority. A red carpet was rolled out as he appeared at the event, moving slowly in a car while greeting each division with respect.

During the inspection, President Xi asked the soldiers, “How are you, comrades?” and “It’s been tough on you, hasn’t it?” The troops replied in perfect unison, “President, we are fine” and “It hasn’t been tough on us.”

The parade itself was breathtaking. The troops marched in perfect sync, earning admiration from across the world. A viral video of a soldier unveiling the Chinese national flag has sparked praise for its flawless execution. Many online comparisons have even pointed out that the recent U.S. military parade looked unorganized and full of mistakes, failing to match the discipline and precision shown by China.

China Showcases Nuclear Missiles, Drones, and Next-Generation Weapons at the Parade

The parade was not only about the synchronized troops but also about the powerful military weapons on display. China went all out, showcasing nuclear missiles, drones, laser systems, and the new DF-61 Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM), which has the range to reach the United States. Also on display were H-6N bombers carrying nuclear-capable JL-T missiles and a Hypersonic Glide Vehicle, designed to break through any defense system.

China also highlighted its advanced laser technology, which is said to destroy swarms of drones, burn through electronics, and even blind enemy pilots. Alongside this, an impressive water defense system showed the country’s ability to secure land, water, and air, making invaders think twice before launching an attack.

During the parade, the top five trending searches in China included: “Dongfeng 61,” “September 3 Grand Military Parade,” “Justice will prevail,” “Peace will prevail and the people will prevail,” and “Military Parade live broadcast.” The Dongfeng-5C missile, known for its worldwide strike range, also drew massive attention.

This parade has become a pride booster for the Chinese people and will certainly go down in the history books as one of China’s most powerful shows of strength.

World Reactions and Xi Jinping’s Bold Speech at the 80th Anniversary Parade

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, reacted to the parade with a sharp tweet: “Many Americans died in China’s quest for victory and glory. I hope that they are rightfully honored and remembered.” He went further, adding: “Please give my warmest regards to Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un as you conspire against the United States of America.”

His words came after reports that President Xi Jinping of China, President Vladimir Putin of Russia, and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un held a closed-door meeting during the event. While the details of that meeting remain unknown, speculation suggests it could have been about the advanced military weapons showcased at the parade, hence Trump’s fiery response.

In his own speech, President Xi Jinping declared: “The rise of the Chinese nation is unstoppable. Strength may prevail for a time, but over the long arc of history, it is reason that wins.”

The big question now is: was the 80th anniversary military parade simply a celebration of victory, or was it a clear message of strength and power to the world?
