6 Christmas Themed Shows/Movies to Watch on Netflix this Christmas

The Christmas season is quickly upon us once again and I am hopeful for my personal favourite time of the year. I mean, Lagos has been hopping with activity since the 1st of December. And me? Well, I have a very special date planned for my Christmas day, a date with my… Netflix and a series of Christmas themed movies and TV shows. Here’s what we should be watching this holiday.

  1. Dash and Lily

This adorable rom-com series follows a story of two teenagers (with very different opinions on Christmas), a red book and a ridiculously game of truth and dare. It’s honestly the perfect holiday-themed holiday binge.

  1. The Holidate

This may not be a traditional Christmas movie but it is about different holidays and Christmas just happens to be one of them so for me, it counts.

In a completely relatable quest not to be the only single people at holiday parties with friends and family, two strangers agree to be their plus-ones for all festive related events. It’s completely platonic, of course, until it’s not (dun dun duuuuuun).

  1. How to Ruin Christmas

When the black sheep of the family grudgingly attends her sister’s Christmas wedding all hell breaks loose. Now, you know South Africans do not play when it comes to comedy, if it’s not wild and ridiculous then it just doesn’t cut it.  And in only three episodes (four in season two) that is exactly the crazy ‘How to Ruin Christmas’ brings. It’s like riding a wild roller coaster and Tumi’s antics will give you a literal headache but it’s an undeniably fun binge watch.

  1. Love Hard

In a movie that sets the perfect stage for Nev and Max, a young woman travels to another state to meet a man she’s been dating online, only to find out she’s been catfished.

Even though the love interests seem more like friends, it’s still a good film.

  1. A Naija Christmas

Well, this holiday must be special because Kunle Afolayan decided to bless us with our very own Nigerian Christmas movie.

Should Christians celebrate halloween

In truly Yoruba mother fashion, a woman tries to guilt trip and bribe her three sons into getting married and giving her grandbabies, leading the men down a path of desperation and self-realization.

  1. The Holiday

When Christmas looks bleak, two women decide they need a change of scenery and swap homes but this causes more change than they expected when they find love.

This is a typical, cheesy pick but it’s a classic and you have to watch a classic during a holiday binge. Besides who can pass up the opportunity to see a young Jude Law (definitely not me)
