“We were introduced by mutual friends. He was friends with my friend’s boyfriend. They broke up but we’re still going strong.”

“My friend is close friends with him too. She posted my graduation pictures on her status and he was scrolling through it. He scrolled past at first cause he felt I looked like I was too much for him, then he decided to try his luck so he swiped up and sent my friend a dm. I was still dating at the time. Albeit it was a toxic relationship. My friend felt I deserved better so she introduced me to him. I initially got talking with him just to be friends but from the first moment I saw him, I was so comfortable around him that I found myself hiding in his arms because the movie theater was too cold😅. Long story short, our friendship blossomed into romance. I ended up breaking up with my toxic Yahoo boyfriend. (Did I mention that earlier? Oops! I think I was just going through a bad boy phase sha.) We started our relationship with him simping after me. Now I’m the biggest simp I know and honestly, I love it! My baby turned a hard girl like me into a simp. Only he can do that and tbh, I’ve never felt this loved in my entire life. Thanks for sliding into my dm that day baby! Ima loves you very much🥰”

“I hurt her, we ended up spending the night together and we shared a kiss. Boom, that is how we landed where we got to where we are now.”

“Hmm, so I met her back then when we were still younger. She was still in secondary school and I had just graduated secondary, going into university. I met her at my cousin’s house, she happened to be my cousin’s best friend. When I saw her, I tripped 😅… so I complimented her and she was nice, we exchanged numbers and chatted that whole night, till the next morning. We became very good friends, forward to when we both were past eighteen, I told her how I felt, she felt same and with some works, I asked her out for the second time 😅😅 and then she finally agreed.”

”From lab practice back in uni, to talking profusely over the long holidays, and then finally to asking the question “can I kiss you?”. It was more awkward than sweet, I promise.”
Mr man (F)
“The matter too long oo..😄
Long story short, it was like a dream… the kind of dreamlike love story you only see in movies. You could call it love at first sight and from the moment we talked, it was settled that we were meant to be…”

“We were introduced by a mutual friend on WhatsApp. I ghosted him for 6months, and we started to talk on the day he commented on my pictures. I was so surprised to learn about his many interests. The man was amazing, and since then, it’s been love all the way.”

“Omo it was not love at first sight oo. I didn’t reason him at all. He got my number online and sent me a message. I left him on read for 6 months, and I only replied to him when he sent a message whilst I was sick. We hit it off for weird reasons, and it was crazy, crazy growth and attachment afterward. I could not go a day without hearing a word from his lips. We were that attached. Na WhatsApp bring us together oo. I still don’t know why I love this human, but I love him so much. I’m glad we met.”

“I met him at my friend’s place and then we started to talk but he was a bully to me and he made me feel like he is a bad boy so I zeroed my mind that nothing could ever happen between us two……we are 11 months now and he is the sweetest thing that has ever happened to me.”

“He was my coursemate and best friend until one day I went to visit him and we were talking then we expressed how we felt about each other.”
Ade (F)
“Thinking about it feels weird. This guy liked my very close friend but she kept rejecting him and accepting his gift. Then he made a last attempt and she said hurtful things to him. I became friends with him after plus I felt bad about what my friend did…… We ended up having feelings and started dating. (I and my friend aren’t close anymore)”
Ajike (F)
“We were friends for a while and at a point it got beyond friendship and now it’s a very beautiful relationship.”

“I saw her in my class, I think I was in 300 level. She didn’t have any wig on, she was wearing a particular gown. I messaged her on our class group chat that she should text me so I’d have her number lol. She did, saying happy birthday. I saw it was her birthday like two years later and asked her friend for her number only to see she had wished me a happy birthday in April. This was September, we got talking since that day and never stopped, we fell in love lol. It’s still the most beautiful story ever to me though.”

“He usually frequented the POS shop I was working part-time while waiting for NYSC. At first, I didn’t even see him or notice him. I only knew he came to my shop more often, I was not the only person with POS after all. Then one day, we got talking, for long, and he asked me out on a date. I found him cute and all so I agreed. Then I went over to his place and we had the most amazing sex, especially considering I just left my ex, sexually unsatisfied, feeling used and dirty. He made me feel special, I guess that’s why I fell for him as hard as I did.”

“He was my lecturer. I was the assistant course rep. I never even knew he liked me, although I had a secret crush on him. Then one day, when I visited his office for an assignment and further instructions on his course, he invited me out to eat. At first, I was elated but I feared it was just a friendly outing. Then he popped the ‘I like you’ card. It was so sweet. We’re married now and he’s the bestest and sweetest friend and husband I could ever ask for.”

“I went to visit a friend. He came to see my friend’s husband. I noticed him checking me out, and he was really cute so I went to start a conversation with him. Yes, I started it. He suggested we should hang out and it’s been fireworks since then.”
Betty (F)

“I went out to eat. I had been single for so long and decided to swear off relationships for God-knows-what reasons. Then I noticed him just sitting there, alone too, like me. He caught me staring at him. I quickly looked away but he still walked over. From ‘is this seat taken?’ to ‘can we be friends?’ to ‘will you marry me?’ lol. I’ll be getting married this August.”
Favour (F)

“We hated each other at first. Then we entered university and, somehow, somewhere, the hate changed to love. I missed our banter and childish talks in secondary school. So I called him, asked what he was upto, was too shy to tell him I liked him. Surprise surprise, he liked me too. I knew because he first said it. I told him I actually kind of liked him too and we’ve been inseparable ever since lol. Pretty sure I’ll die for him and he will too.”
Bessie (F)
Asaba, Nigeria
“I met her through a friend. She was in a relationship then, but it was evident she did not love him. I asked her out after being her ’emotional support’ for a few months and she agreed. It’s been 2 years now. She’s one of the best things that has ever happened to me.”
Emma (M)

“We met in camp. I was feeling very confused on that first day, he noticed and approached me and asked how he could help. From there, we started sneaking out every night during camp to hang out, lol. (even during the day). Conversation with him felt so light, easy and natural. After camp, we kept on talking and found out we really liked each other. He came over to my place and asked me out a few weeks after that, I said NO. He kept coming over and he asked me out a second time and I said yes. We’ve been together ever since. He tells me how much he loves me every day and I wouldn’t have asked for a better ‘first boyfriend’. He’s my first and I’m really glad I waited all these years.”

“I saw her in Church. This was a week after I saw her in a club. Well, she definitely intrigued me with the way she could look like a stripper one minute and a virgin the next. I asked her out and fell in love with her babyish character some months after. She’s the most beautiful woman to me.”

As a saying goes, “it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.” Even Gandhi says, “where there is love, there is life.” So, whether love has dealt fairly or unfairly to you, you must admit that the feeling it gives is unlike any other. I hope you all, especially our beautiful Afro-ladies, find love one day; the kind of love you feel from your soul.
Happy Weekend!
