Afrogist: 15 People Share The Most Difficult Situation They Had to Face Alone

People Share, Alone, Difficult Situations, Afrogist, Afrolady,

Hard times come and go. Sometimes it’s sunny, other times the storm is so strong we just need a shoulder to lean on. Or at the very least, someone to talk to. However, on this week’s episode of Afrogist, we’ve had 15 random persons tell us the most difficult situation they had no choice but to face alone.

“I was very sick for more than a year. Skin disease. I could not go out, to bathe was a chore, I couldn’t even bear to look at myself in the mirror. No drugs worked, I had to watch my mum break down in front of me from taking me from hospitals to hospitals.
Lots of money was spent, it was a whole lot for an 18-year-old child. I remember crying myself to sleep more than once. Hated God, myself, everything. But oh well, it’s just a story now.”

“Having to deal with being a perfectionist. Recently believed I have OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder). I’m learning to take things easy and as they are. Learning to allow my imperfection to be as they make me human. Therapy is suggested to be a good way to suppress this but I guess my country isn’t ready for that discussion.”

“During the summer holiday, we travelled to my uncle’s house in Abuja for 2 weeks. It was an estate and there were so many youths. I saw Sam and it was love at first sight but unfortunately, I was fetching water and looking rough.
Only to find out that he was a new friend’s ( Elizabeth) elder brother, I had two weeks to enjoy myself so I went to their house daily claiming to watch ‘everybody hates Chris’. On the last day, I told him I was leaving. They were all shocked.
So by 8:00 pm, Sam called me to come to the stairways. I hurriedly rushed out only to see him with a note. He hugged me and we had our first kiss.”

“Getting raped and having to go through an abortion twice. It was Hell. My mouth can’t. Fathom the horror. Went through the process alone with no one to hold my hands in the hospital”

“Losing my dad. It was the saddest because he did not die. He didn’t leave us physically either and we didn’t lose him to any sickness. He was the most loving man I knew. He was great at being a Dad or so I thought.
One day, I realized the man I called dad was gone and all I had was a figurehead father. Till today, I don’t know how or why. I guess he was just done being a Dad to me.”

“Pregnancy and the loss of it. Oh yes, my mom was super helpful but that sort of situation is the most lonely thing in the world. I was lonely, disappointed, and unhappy. My life as I knew it was ending.”

“Brain electrocution and seizures. Tbh I don’t have it that bad why? Cause no matter how hopeless situations look, there is always a bright side, you just have to look.”

“Getting into the university. No one warned me about friends, being lazy, and maintaining your GP. So I had to scale through boys, sex, love, heartbreak, fake friends, all on my own, and still try to graduate with my mates.
It was a lot of pressure for a 17-year-old.”

“The pain and trauma after I lost my virginity. The loneliness and confusion, the constant thinking and browsing the internet to check if I am actually ok.”

“Choosing my family and friends’ opinions and ignoring my true feelings.
Having to constantly fight off my thoughts and opinions to satisfy others. The situation I am in now would be 100% better.”

Okay, some of these situations are just plain heartbreaking. Nonetheless, anyone can sense the strength and growth lying underneath the struggles. Like the popular saying, “Tough times never last, only tough people do.”

For those of us struggling with one thing or the other, yes it’s okay to be strong; the temptation to bear everything alone can be overwhelming; the feeling that no one would understand anyway can be suffocating; the thought that no one truly cares. Nevertheless, know that there’s always someone willing to help, even if it’s just to lend a listening ear. Wishing you all good luck in your future endeavors ❤️👌🏾.
