“Responsibilities and targets to meet up with 😔😔😔 worse is the mental work involved in the fact that you are trying to make ends meet.”
Angela (F)
Nigeria
“Men!!! The sapa issues oooo.. Having to cater for your needs and sometimes doing scale of preference cos the money can’t cover for all of them.”
Charis (F)
Lagos
“The constant working day and night. No time to really rest and just exist. The responsibilities. So many people are counting on you. Makes me want to just disappear sometimes.”
Shela (F)
Abuja, FCT
“The sacrifices. Especially as a woman. Everyone expects you to sacrifice your life for others. Am I, not a person? Don’t I deserve to be happy?”
Grace (F)
Lagos State
“I’m currently trying to juggle around 4 to 5 jobs because I decided to be an independent woman. No one told me it would be this tuff😭😭💔.
Not to mention responsibilities in other “non-work” organizations. Abi is it because I decided to be responsible? Because this adulting is honestly tuff. Be like I go soon find sugar daddy so I go dey shake yansh for yacht🥲”
Every man’s woman (F)
Asaba
“The concept of Love. Of all things to consider I know. Don’t judge.
When I was young, I could crush on anybody and fall in love quickly. All that mattered were things like having dimples and being funny and whatnot, yunno, superficial things. Now, we have to actually consider things that matter.”
Hilda (F)
Abuja
“I had a boyfriend who I loved so much that when he broke up with me, things changed, and I lost complete trust for him. I just want to do things and expect to leave one day.”
Rukky (F)
Edo State
“The fact that I have to wake up everyday by 3 am, just to prepare for work 😩”
Victoria Hart (F)
Benin City
“Omo, what has happened in my life, e plenty gan oh 😩 I don see things, but the one I will mention is when I had to stay back after school and not go home, money for groceries is too much, I missed having to not bother about that.”
Otan (M)
Abuja
“I think nobody mentioned how adulthood would keep you tired of so much responsibility. You suddenly move from being dependent to becoming totally independent. You may just realize that no one is coming to save you, and that realization is very humbling.”
Theresa (F)
Nigeria
“No one told me that choosing a life partner was a lot more serious than it looked.”
Raven (F)
“Everything. I mean work, money, relationships and everything that makes an adult an adult.”
Oluwadolapolois (F)
Osogbo
“The constant brokenness. I can’t afford anything 😭
I miss the days I could just ask my parents to buy what I needed.”
Spandex (F)
Lagos
“Lol, even though it seems very basic, it is the responsibility and choices for me!
Omo, growing up there was never this kind of pressure. I was young and stupid so in a sense, I wasn’t expected to be in charge of my life.
Now that I’m an adult, I have the weight of choosing a career, planning my future, deciding on investments, where to settle down, and thinking about the next 5, 10, 20 years. All this alongside paying bills and trying to earn a living. I miss having an allowance and pocket money…”
Tea Lover (M)
