4 New and Tasty Ways Of Preparing Meat On Eid al Adha 2022

The Eid al Adha also known as Eid el Kabir is a very important holiday in the muslim calendar. On this day, sacrifices are made to honor Allah’s commandment to Ibrahim to sacrifice an animal instead of his son. In Nigeria, the Federal Government has declared 08th July and Saturday 09th July as public holidays.

On this holiday, the second and biggest of the two main holidays celebrated in Islam, it’s almost mandatory to prepare some delicious dishes! Are you one of those persons who are bored of eating the same dishes for Eid el Kabir? I have here a short list of new and tasty ways of preparing meat on Eid el Kabir that is sure to spice up your celebrations.

Steak Sandwich with Spinach

With this recipe, you can make a really delicious, crunchy and nutritious sandwich that will make your guests beg for more. The ingredients are also cheap and easy to procure.

Ingredients
  • Sandwich bread
  • Spinach
  • Ram meat (mutton)
  • Vegetable oil
  • Sal
  • Pepper
  • An Onion bulb
Preparation
  1. Boil meat with seasoning.
  2. Slice the meat into thin strips
  3. Fry strips lightly with vegetable oil
  4. Put the vegetable oil in a saucepan
  5. Add the onion bulb in slices
  6. Add a pinch of salt
  7. Add pepper in preferred quantity
  8. Add spinach (whole)
  9. Fry until the vegetables get darker but not too dark (you don’t want it over cooked)
  10. Place a slice of mutton on either slice of bread.
  11. Place a generous amount of spinach sauce on the bread at the bottom
  12. Join both top and bottom breads.
  13. Your sandwich is ready (preferably served hot)
  14. Enjoy!

Spicy Suya

Suya is so versatile and delicious that it can be eaten at any time of day. Yet, you need your Suya game to be top notch to make Suya worthy of the Eid Kabir celebration. That’s why you have me💃. Here’s a wonderful recipe I got from allrecipes

Ingredient Checklist
  • 1 tablespoon Peanuts, all types, dry-roasted, without salt
  • 1 teaspoon Spices, pepper, red or cayenne
  • 1 teaspoon Spices, paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Salt, table
  • ½ teaspoon Spices, ginger, ground
  • ½ teaspoon Spices, garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon Spices, onion powder
  • 1 ½ pounds Beef, round, tip round, separable lean and fat, trimmed to 1/4″ fat, all grades, raw
  • 1 Peppers, sweet, red, raw; red bell pepper
  • ¼ Onions, raw
  • 4 Mushrooms, raw
Preparation
  1. Mix the sauce and the raw meat in a paper bag for equal coating
  2. Leave to marinate for an hour
  3. Heat grill up/oven to 150°
  4. Place marinated meat on grill/in pan inside oven
  5. Turn at intervals
  6. Take down when brown and cooked
  7. Sprinkle with powder chili
  8. Serve!

Meat With Pepper Sauce

I am salivating already just thinking about this tasty dish. Preparation is very easy and the results? Awesome. The ingredients are also few and readily available in our local markets.

Ingredients
  • Thyme
  • Pepper (bell pepper, chili pepper and black pepper)
  • An onion bulb
  • Seasoning
  • Butter
  • Lemon juice
Preparation
  1. Cook meat with thyme and seasoning.
  2. Add lemon juice for flavor and to make it tender
  3. Put butter in saucepan to melt
  4. Add the onion bulb
  5. Add peppers in required quantities.
  6. Add seasoning
  7. Add meat and lightly fry.
  8. Serve!

Pepper Soup With Bread/Yam/Rice

The African pepper soup is a watery and very spicy broth. You can accompany it with yam, bread, boiled potatoes and others. It is also very easy to prepare and is a delicacy for people of all ages which means you can serve it to all your guests. Since homemade pepper soup spice is better than its store bought counterpart, here is the recipe from Nigerianfoodtv

Preparation For Home Made Pepper Soup Spice
Ingredients
  • 6 to 8 pieces calabash Nutmeg
  • 8 pieces Negro pepper (Uda seeds)
  • 1 tablespoonful seeds of Alligator pepper (Atariko/Ulima seed). This makes about 3 tablespoonful pepper soup spice mix

Note: some people add dried ginger roots and cubeb peppers (uziza seeds) to their mix, so feel free to add a little if you want to.

Preparation
  1. First roast the Calabash Nutmeg on a frying pan until it begins to turn dark brown and you can smell its lovely aroma. Gently peel off the outer skin and take out the seed inside.
  2. Now, combine the calabash nutmeg, Negro pepper (Uda seeds) and Aligator pepper (Atariko/Ulima seeds) in a blender, and grind to a fine powder.
  3. Pour into an airtight container and store in a dry place. This pepper soup spice mix keeps for up to a year if stored properly.

Now you have your homemade pepper soup spice, for use in any Nigerian pepper soup recipe.

Preparation For Pepper Soup
Ingredients
  • Bay leave
  • Onion
  • Pepper (Powdered Chili)
  • Pepper soup spice
  • Thyme
  • Seasoning
Preparation
  1. Rinse your meat into a pot
  2. Add your onion, bay leave and thyme.
  3. Add seasoning
  4. Let it boil until cooked
  5. Add pepper soup spice
  6. Add the powdered Chili pepper
  7. Leave to boil for a bit
  8. Serve!
