The Met Gala
The Met Gala was formerly known as the Costume Institute Benefit. It is an annual event for fundraising which is held for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in Manhattan. Dating back years, the event has been held yearly and has raised 31 million dollars this year.
This prestigious and glamorous fashion event was held on May 5, 2025, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The theme, ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,’ emphasized the importance of Black identity and style. The dress code was ‘Tailored for You,’ and this year’s red carpet was uniquely designed as a blue carpet adorned with floral patterns.
The Met Gala is an invite-only event, and attending comes at a high price; individual tickets cost around $75,000, while a table for ten can go for approximately $350,000. Even with a ticket, each guest must still be approved by the Met Gala committee. These tickets are not actually paid by the Celebrities themselves but by the brands that invited them, big brands or social media companies like Prada, Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Instagram, TikTok, and the likes to raise money for the event.
The entire concept and execution of it were all done by the Costume Institute’s chief curator, Andrew Bolton, but many believe that the theme was finalized by Anna Wintour. The Met Gala is mostly attended by famous Celebrities in the music and film industry.
Best Celebrities Outfit for The Met Gala Event 2025
Although there is a theme for the event, it is inevitable that some people don’t follow it to the letter. Let’s check out some Celebrities’ outfits who ate without leaving crumbs or were a big fat mess of the theme.
1. Jennie
Jennie, a member of the Korean girl group Blackpink, was dressed in a custom Channel outfit: a tailored black jumpsuit inside paired with a beautiful over-skirt, along with a hat and pearl beads.
2. Sabrina Carpenter
Sabrina Carpenter turned heads in a deep red Louis Vuitton tuxedo-style bodysuit, worn without pants and paired with high heels. In a playful interview, she shared that the designer told her, ‘You are short, so no pants for you.’ This marked her third Met Gala appearance, and she joked that she hopes to finally use the bathroom this year, as her previous outfits made it nearly impossible to maneuver.
3. Doechi
Doechi was also in attendance at the Met Gala; her outfit was worked on for months by Louis Vuitton, and the outfit was inspired by a book character. She had an LV mark on her face symbolising Louis Vuitton carrying her natural hair in an afro shape, truly following the theme.
4. Teyana Taylor
Teyana Taylor, one of the first to arrive at the Met Gala, set the tone for the night with a jaw-dropping look. She wore a custom ensemble designed by herself and legendary costume designer Ruth E. Carter. From the tailored suit and dramatic overcoat to the gloves, chains, hat, and floral details, every element embodied the theme flawlessly.
The outfit, praised as a ‘10,000/10’ by fans online, easily secured her spot as one of the most iconic looks of the 2025 Met Gala.
5. Bad Bunny
Bad Bunny wore everything Prada, his clothes, shoes, and bag were from Prada. His overall outfit fit the theme. Other Celebrities invited by Prada are Hunter Schafer, Maya Hawke, Sadie Sink, and others.
6. Andre 3000
One of the most peculiar looks of the night came from André 3000, who made a dramatic entrance wearing a massive piano strapped to his back while holding what appeared to be a garbage bag. Though the inspiration behind his outfit remains unclear, it certainly stood out as one of the most unexpected and talked-about appearances at the 2025 Met Gala.
7. Rihanna and ASAP Rocky
Coming in fashionably late with big news, Rihanna and Asap Rocky attended the Met Gala with their third child in view. Rihanna dressed in custom Mac Jacobs while Asap styled by his own design. There has been a lot of buzz around this big news; it seems like Asap and Rihanna are really trying for a girl child. Asap accepted all the congratulations, smiling joyfully.
An interviewer asked him what would be the next big steal from Rihanna because they love to steal from each other, thinking, he said, ‘I already stole her heart. I think that’s the biggest thing.‘ Discussion has surfaced online about how Rihanna is always pregnant, and Asap Rocky should be called Asap production. Well, this news did steal the limelight at the Met Gala, Rihanna and Asap were termed the best-dressed couple.
8. Zendaya and Anna Sawai
Coincidence alert! Zendaya and Anna Sawai both stunned at the Met Gala in strikingly similar white suit ensembles. Zendaya, styled by Law Roach, wore a custom Louis Vuitton piece designed by Pharrell Williams, fitting, since she’s the face of the brand.

9. Tems
Tems, a musician, attended wearing a blue ball gown almost similar to the Met Gala’s carpet and a long, long-tailed bow on her hair, a necklace piece with the same material as her umbrella. She told Bazaar in an interview that “Black dandyism to me is black excellence. I wanted to express this theme in a way that was true to me and paying homage to my West African roots and going all in with the details”.
Ozwald Boateng, a male designer, designed a gown for Tem, making her the first lady he had made a gown for in any shape or form. She expressed her appreciation for this.
