Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has tied the knot with his long-time fiancée, Chioma Rowland, in a grand wedding ceremony held on Tuesday. The event, which was highly anticipated, featured a star-studded guest list, including the governor of Lagos and numerous other dignitaries and celebrities.
Davido shared pre-wedding photos on his Instagram account, accompanied by the hashtag #CHIVIDO2024, setting the stage for the celebration. The announcement of their nuptials came shortly after Davido confirmed their forthcoming wedding on Tuesday. While there had been speculation that the couple already married in 2023, it is believed that all formalities were completed last year, with this event serving as a grand celebration of their union.
David and Chioma’s Relationship Timeline
David and Chioma first crossed paths at Babcock University, where Davido was studying music and Chioma was pursuing a degree in Economics. Though they met in 2013, their relationship remained purely platonic until 2015, when they began dating quietly. It wasn’t until 2017 that they decided to go public with their romance. Davido introduced Chioma to the world in a special way by writing a song for her and featuring her in the music video for “Assurance.”
Davido’s Scandals
If only the word scandals could be followed with a few more “s” to emphasize the point. As popular as Davido is for his music, his personal life has also been a constant source of media attention. Frequent cheating scandals and rumors have plagued their relationship, making it far from a fairytale pairing in the eyes of many. Sadly paired with the devastating loss of their son Ifeanyi in October 2022 their relationship has been through a turbulence.
Despite the controversies and the tragedy, the couple has managed to navigate through remain together.
Wizkid’s Cryptic Tweet
In a possibly unrelated event, fellow Afrobeats star Wizkid posted a cryptic tweet simply stating “lol,” which has set the internet abuzz with speculation. Many fans and observers believe the tweet might be a subtle dig at Davido’s nuptial announcement. The timing and ambiguity of the tweet have fueled discussions and debates online
Wizkid never confirmed or denied the allegations so it could have been just a random tweet. But then again, he didn’t attend the wedding when the entire Nigerian celebrity base seemed to have made an appearance.

Davido and Chioma’s wedding itself was a spectacular affair, with a lavish ceremony attended by every high-profile persons in Lagos.
Sanwo-Olu who happened to also be celebrating his 58th birthday on Tuesday was in attendance with the likes of former president Olusegun Obasanjo, Osun state governor and groom’s uncle Adeleke, Ogun state governor Dapo Abiodun and the Ooni of Ife.
In attendance were also several celebrities like Obi Cubana, P-square, Olamide, Ini Edo, Chike, and Fireboy DML just to name a few.
Despite the mixed reactions to their relationship journey, Davido and Chioma’s wedding was a celebration of their enduring love, to each their own. And we at Afrolady wish them a happy married life.
