If you are reading this, it must mean that you have either come across articles, pictures, or posts about the Bridgerton Affair that took place in the city of Johannesburg on the 4th of May.

While there were certain dresses that we found rather unbecoming of the theme of the event, I must confess that there were a certain few who stood out as proud representatives of the Bridgerton Affair.

The Bridgerton Season 3 premiere in Johannesburg was a highly anticipated event, and we all waited for each of our faves to showcase their outfits with bated breaths. Safe to say, the attendees did not disappoint with their fashion choices.

The theme of the event was “Regency Era Splendor: Into The Spotlight,” and the guests took inspiration from the Netflix series, donning outfits that would have made the Bridgerton family proud.

Here are five of what I would call my favorite “looks” from the glamorous event and I believe my thoughts resonate with yours, dearest reader.

5 Top Designs From The Bridgerton Season 3 Premiere in Johannesburg

1. Priscilla Ojo

I believe we all agree that Priscilla was the best dressed at that event. How does Gen Z say it? Ah, yes, “She. Ate. It. All. Up!”

Priscilla Ojo stunned in a soft mint green off-the-shoulder gown that perfectly captured the essence of the Regency era. The fitted bodice and voluminous sleeves adorned with ruffles added a touch of elegance, while the wide embellished hat with matching fabric completed the look. She looked every bit the part of a high-society lady from the 19th century.

(Dare I add, I believe she would have been crowned the Diamond of the Season if there had been an actual ball.)

2. Kim Oprah

Standing regally in second place is Kim Oprah.

Kim Oprah made a statement that evening by donning a show-stopping, voluminous brown gown that exuded elegance and sophistication. The intricate details and subtle nuances of the dress perfectly captured the essence of the Regency era.

Her hair was styled in a dramatic updo, with delicate tendrils framing her face and accentuating her features. The overall look was a masterpiece in regal glamour, fitting for a queen of the ton. Her look was a perfect blend of modern flair and vintage charm, a true homage to the era of corsets, carriages, and grand balls.

Lilian Afegbai’s look at the Bridgerton Season 3 premiere in Joburg was an eye-catching ensemble that perfectly captured the quintessence of the Regency era.

She donned a stunning, floor-length gown designed by Kud Collections, the same designer that created Kie Kie’s dress for the event.

Lilian’s gown was a masterful blend of contemporary style and vintage charm, with a fitted bodice, a full skirt, and ruffled sleeves that added a touch of elegance. The overall look was a testament to Afegbai’s impeccable taste and ability to embody the spirit of the Bridgerton era.

Two things I particularly loved about Lilian’s look were her hair and makeup. Her hair was styled in loose waves, with a few strategically placed curls framing her face and accentuating her features. Her makeup on the other hand was subtle yet striking, with a focus on enhancing her natural beauty rather than making a bold statement.

Overall, Lilian Afegbai’s look at the Bridgerton Season 3 premiere in Joburg was a true showstopper that perfectly captured the spirit of the Regency era.

4. Maxine Magwape

Popular Motswana digital content creator, Maxine Magwape wore a monochrome blue gown by Botswana designer Lesedi Matlapeng at the Bridgerton Season 3 premiere in Johannesburg.

The dress featured a navy blue corset with a matching colored dramatic collar, a cape, gloves, and puffed sleeves. However, what I adored the most about her look were the glittering stones that adorned her dress from her waist to her neck.

The premiere was themed “Regency Era Splendor: Into The Spotlight” and Magwape’s dress was one of the best interpretations of the theme.

Host of the event, the delectable Kie Kie wowed everyone at the premiere with her gold, custom-designed 18th-century dress by Kud Collections.

She exuded “simple is classy” with her accessories, opting for a feathered fascinator as her headpiece, a pair of pearl earrings, and a pearl necklace to adorn her neck.

Some honorable mentions include celebrities and fashion icons such as Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, who opted for a sophisticated monochromatic outfit that exuded classic sophistication. His addition of a classic fedora hat and a monocle enhanced the overall Regency aesthetic, making him look like a true gentleman from the era.

Hilda Baci also rose to the occasion by appearing in what we could all agree was a Disney princess-worthy gown. Her lilac dress gave us a mixture of fairy and princess with its corseted bodice and full skirt. Her hair was styled in loose waves, and she completed her look with a pair of short, net gloves that added a touch of glamor.

Back to our gentlemen, popular Nigerian actor, Emmanuel Taymesan, looked every bit the part of a Regency-era gentleman in his white shirt and navy blue jacket, black pants, cane, hat, and knee-high boots. His outfit was a perfect blend of modern and traditional, and he carried it off with ease. Truly becoming of a gentleman of the Bridgerton Affair.
