A lot of students will agree that formal school is almost never fun. Asides from a few classes and social activities, going to school and facing the lecturers is a herculean task. But a lot of these frustrations are pent-up. Here, you get to let them all out.

In this episode of Afrogist, we had our contributors, most of which are university undergraduates, tell us the things they wish they could tell their lecturers aloud, but might never be able to.

Buckle up, it’s one heck of a ride.

‘I hate you all. You do as if you are gods. No sympathy, no love, no care. Just pure wickedness. Hope you know that karma is a bitch.’

I hope the country changes for the better, I know my kids won’t study here. Lord help me, so my children don’t go through this.’

‘Dr Bode, I used to look forward to your lectures after ENL 111 (Morphology & Syntax of English), but sincerely speaking, every other course you have taken after that one has been nothing but utter chaos. You speak for hours, going on about one thing or the other, you waste my days exercising your mouth about rubbish. Just freaking teach, damn it!

If only you know how I fantasize about bombing your office, tapping that your “shine-shine bobo” head, or maybe kidnapping you and cutting off your toes, starting with the large one on each foot.

You have wasted my life.’

J (PNS)

‘They should be nice to students especially with their choice of words. Not all students have the flair for academics. These same students might definitely be greater than them and be hostile towards them or their children.’

You Know (F)
Naija

‘A lecturer just disliked me because I was dating his friend (student). Perhaps, he liked me lowkey but was kinda jealous. Life is not that hard. After all, he could have gone for another girl and not showing some dislike towards innocent me back then. Besides, he should focus on his wife/family and stop chasing after small girls.’

‘All of them are mad 🙄🙄🙄.’

‘May your children get the same treatment we get from you. Simple.’

To Dr. Choice, UNEC excitable tissue lecturer.

I always admire young doctors whenever I see them, and I’m always motivated to push further so I can end up like them, but the reverse is the case when I see you. You are just too rough and aggressive to be a doctor. You hit someone at the slightest opportunity and never give a listening ear to your students’ plight. I don’t know why you always do this, but I wish you can just change and handle your students with love like Dr. Ikele and Prof. Anyanwu, your superiors in the field.

I hope this message gets to you.’

Joshua (M)
Enugu, Nigeria

‘This life is hard enough, why are you being difficult?’

Mary (F)

Choiceman (M)

‘Some of you are nice, while most of you are wicked. Is it a part of your job description to be heartless? You don’t care about other people’s children.’

Timothy (M)

‘Mrs. Ike, God will bless you for me. You saved me from my mother’s hand. If I had spilled over, I don’t know what would have happened to me. Thanks for believing in me and supporting me through trying times.

You are always in my prayers.’

Lizzy O (F)

‘Why do you instill fear in your students and still claim to be Christians? God doesn’t give us fear but a sound mind, yet just mere lecturers derive joy from seeing students in fear and trembling. Thank God man is not God, if not, we will all be dead.
